Versatile and creative, flutist-composer-improviser Cléo Palacio-Quintin will be in residence at Open Space from February 11
to February 17, 2016. Palacio-Quintin’s work exploits the possibilities of the hyper-flute, an instrument she invented and has been developing since 1999. Connected to a computer using electronic sensors, the enhanced flute allows her to create interactive soundscapes combining instrumental and electronic music, and sometimes, video.
Her residency opens with a workshop on Thursday, February 11 at
7 p.m. where participants will be able to explore techniques for musical improvisation. Everyone is welcome to participate regardless of musical experience. It will be a safe place to explore and try something new.
