On Friday, November 27, 2015 at 8 p.m. Open Space welcomes keyboard virtuoso Rachel Iwaasa who will share a program of piano music featuring selections by Canadian composers and 20th Century experimental works at Victoria Conservatory’s Wood Hall.
On the program will be selection from Ann Southam’s Glass Houses, Jeffrey Ryan’s Fornax Chemica, and Emily Doolittle’s Minute Etudes. The program will also include the rarely heard The Banshee by Henry Cowell, one of the earliest examples a composition to be performed directly on the strings of the piano. Rounding out the program will be works by John Cage and Vancouver’s Rodney Sharman
