Over the course of the year, Open Space has collaborated on a series of distinguished exhibitions with the Victoria Native Friendship Centre (VNFC). This four-part exhibition series is comprised of selected works from the VNFC archive of Urban Aboriginal Art. Tahltan Curator-in-residence Peter Morin worked closely with Leslie McGarry (Cultural Programs Liaison) and Shona Collision (Community Health Liaison) to develop the exhibitions. The Victoria Native Friendship Centre collection is a growing archive of urban aboriginal artists, telling the stories and celebrating the achievements of VNFC s decades of community service to urban aboriginal populations. This collection is an important chapter in contemporary arts communities of British Columbia and Canada.
