Victoria-based freelance preparator and artist Corey Bryson will survey practical packing and crating strategies to protect your art while it is in transit to a gallery, museum, artist-run centre, or back home to Mom. He will focus on affordable materials and techniques available to anyone.
This workshop is a basic a “how-to” about crating for shipping via common carrier. Bryson will share information on drafting idiot-proof packing instructions and crate lists and stress the importance of noting the condition of work when it leaves the studio.
In addition, Bryson will outline the importance of clear instructions for repacking your work for the trip back if you are unable to do it yourself. He will touch on storage, framing, and packing your work professionally to anticipate and avoid damage and breakage. Bryson will provide notes, sources, and a bibliography for each participant.
