Artists Cedric and Nathan Bomford present Bamberton: Contested Landscape, an intensive installation that makes use of salvaged wood from building demolitions and their previous projects. Opens Friday evening, January 8 with an artists’ talk at 7:00 p.m., and closes with a panel discussion on Saturday afernoon, February 20 at 2:00 p.m.
Bamberton: Contested Landscape transforms salvaged wood and metal into a massive meditation on land use, density and u,rban planning. The installation alludes to architectural details of the Vancouver Island community of Bamberton, the site of an abandon cement plant. The Bomfords invite visitors to physically move through, over, under and around the installation, allowing for a tactile interaction with the work. The installation features thirteen-foot cylindrical towers, a multilevel oratorical forum, a small cabin and a look-out. The salvaged lumber reveals subtle open-ended histories. This ambitous project is a feast for the imagination.
