Description
Fiona Macdonald’s (Australia) Index project (renovated) investigates how historical art inhabits contemporary art production and presentation. Macdonald bases her project on the collaborative conceptual art group Art & Language, whose Index Project was presented at Documenta 5 in 1972—the same year Open Space was incorporated.
The Index project (renovated) involves two parts. The first is a large-scale wall text—an index of conceptual formulations—with accompanying catalogues and ample space for the addition of notations and relational entries. The second part is performative, and will be videotaped and included in the exhibition as a projection. It will spark subsequent annotation to the wall work. Macdonald has issued a casting call for participants. As the work is modified, it becomes an experiment in modality: generational, regional and political.installation: Monday, February 9 - Friday, February 13 Opening: Friday, February 13
